In an era where technology and innovation shape economies and societies, President Marcos Jr. has taken a significant leap toward modernizing governance by swiftly approving the proposed e-Governance Act. This legislation emerges as a vital strategy for the Philippines to align itself with other nations that are rapidly adopting digital transformations. By prioritizing e- governance, the country aims to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of government services, thereby contributing to a more engaged and empowered citizenry. The e- Governance Act is expected to embrace essential digital solutions that streamline processes, allowing citizens to access services at their convenience, thus reducing bureaucratic hurdles. With faster and more efficient services, government agencies can respond more effectively to the needs of the public, promoting a culture of accountability and trust in government institutions. The implementation of e-governance not only facilitates the delivery of essential services but also supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, which emphasizes the importance of building resilient infrastructure and fostering innovation; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals with the collaborative efforts between the government, private sector, and civil society are essential for realizing the full potential of digital governance. This study seeks to assess the advancement of e-governance in the Philippines on its steps towards a digital economy. By embracing e-governance, the country not only aims to improve public service delivery but also aligns itself with global efforts to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through transparency, efficiency, innovation, and collaboration, e- governance can pave the way for a more equitable, accountable, and prosperous society for all Filipinos.
