Abstract

This study aimed to assess the level of literacy on basic consumer rights among selected individuals and to use the findings as a basis for developing an awareness program. Recognizing that informed consumers are essential to a fair and efficient marketplace, the study sought to determine the respondents\' understanding of their fundamental rights, including the right to safety, the right to choose, the right to information, and the right to be heard. A descriptive research design was employed, utilizing a validated questionnaire to gather data from a selected group of respondents. The data were analyzed using weighted mean and percentage distribution. Results revealed that while most respondents possess a moderate level of awareness, significant gaps remain in their understanding of certain consumer rights and corresponding responsibilities. Factors such as educational background and access to information influenced literacy levels. Based on the findings, an awareness program was proposed to strengthen consumer education and promote responsible decision-making. The study underscores the importance of continuous consumer literacy initiatives to empower individuals and protect them from unfair market practices.
