Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between stenography skills, academic

performance, and employability among Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA)

students at the Eulogio \"Amang\" Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST).

Recognizing stenography as an enduring professional competency, the study sought to

determine how skill proficiency and curriculum integration contribute to students\' academic

success and readiness for employment. A descriptive-correlational research design was

employed, involving BSOA students, faculty members, and graduates as participants. Data

were gathered using a structured survey questionnaire and analyzed through weighted mean

and correlation analysis. Stratified random sampling ensured representation across student year

levels. The study evaluated key dimensions such as Stenography Skills Development, Teaching

Methodologies, Curriculum Integration, Industry Relevance, Employability, and Job Prospects.

Results indicated that Stenography Skills Development was rated as \"Always Observed,\" while Teaching Methodologies and Instructional Techniques were rated as \"Often.\" Respondents \"Strongly Agreed\" on the industry relevance of stenography, its integration into the curriculum, and its positive impact on employability and job prospects. Academic performance of BSOA

students across two consecutive semesters was rated \"Outstanding.\" Correlation analysis

revealed strong positive relationships between stenography skills and factors such as

curriculum integration and employability, though the initial hypothesis asserting a significant

relationship between stenography skills and academic performance was rejected. The findings

emphasize the importance of aligning stenography instruction with industry standards to

enhance employability. A proposed employability enhancement plan-comprising Stenography

Workshops and Certification Exams-can further strengthen students\' technical proficiency and

career readiness, ensuring sustained competitiveness in office administration careers.
